Question 1

What is Traceo?

Accepted Answer

Traceo is a browser extension that helps designers, developers, and QA teams inspect UI details, record bugs, and collaborate more effectively. It combines design inspection tools with powerful screen recording and bug reporting features.

Question 2

Does Traceo work on any website?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Traceo runs in Chrome on normal websites you can open in a tab, marketing sites, web apps, staging environments, and internal tools (as long as your org allows extensions). It won’t run on special Chrome pages like chrome:// URLs, and some embedded iframes or locked-down enterprise policies can limit what any extension can access.

Question 3

How is Traceo different from DevTools or bug trackers?

Accepted Answer

Chrome DevTools is optimized for debugging code and network behavior. Traceo is built for visual UI work: inspect spacing and styles in context, record repros with annotations, and ship bug reports with screenshots, recordings, and environment details,so designers, devs, and QA share the same picture. Bug trackers store tickets; Traceo helps you capture the evidence and context before it ever lands in Jira, Linear, or Notion.

Question 4

How does the AI feature work?

Accepted Answer

Our AI features (coming soon) analyze your screen recordings and bug reports to generate summaries, suggest fixes, and prioritize issues. All AI processing happens securely, and you control what data is shared.

Question 5

Do I need to install anything besides the Chrome extension?

Accepted Answer

For everyday use, no. Install Traceo from the Chrome Web Store and you’re ready to inspect, record, and capture issues. There’s no separate desktop app required for core workflows. Optional integrations (e.g. exporting to tools you already use) rely on those products’ normal sign-in or API setup, not another Traceo installer.

Question 6

Can I use Traceo with my existing tools?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! Traceo integrates with popular project management tools like Jira, Linear, Notion, and Slack. You can export recordings, screenshots, and bug reports directly to these platforms.

Question 7

What data does Traceo collect?

Accepted Answer

Traceo is privacy-first. All recordings and screenshots are stored locally unless you choose to upload them. We collect minimal anonymous usage data to improve the product. See our Privacy Policy for details.
